Meet the Artist: Garzig Design

Garzig Design is the creative studio of artist Angel Ortega. Angel started drawing as a teenager, copying heavy metal album covers. That aesthetic has continued to be a part of her art to this day.

After moving to Austin, she exhibited her drawings in different art shows, including the East Austin Studio Tour. She started Garzig Design as a t-shirt business in 2009, but shortly after, went back to school with the goal of designing greeting cards. During these years, Angel learned about design specs, color theory, and how to transform designs into tangible products.

After graduating and working as a graphic designer, Angel chose to focus full-time on Garzig Design, expanding her brand to include many products beyond t-shirts. All Garzig Design products showcase Angel's passions - food, music, skulls, and pop culture - all with a metal edge.
