Meet the Artist: La Flaca
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, it was the flavors of home that inspired Alejandra Rodriguez Boughton to create LA FLACA, an urban farm in southwest Austin.
As owner and operator of LA FLACA, Alejandra grows ingredients — like epazote, chile chihuacle, and other global herbs and florals — through sustainable practices for local restaurants. She specializes in colorful edible flowers, fragrant culinary herbs, and flavorful hot peppers that bring a special uniqueness to dishes and beverages.

A corporate banker in a previous life, Alejandra first arrived to Austin in 2012 to obtain a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas. Unsatisfied with corporate life, she found her purpose in sustainable agriculture.
Through LA FLACA, Alejandra brings new flavors to her community and inspires others to grow their own food.
