Meet the Artist: Sara Hickman
2010 Official Texas State Musician Sara Hickman has been recording, performing and touring since 1988. With over 20 albums, two appearances on the Tonight Show and multiple awards for her songwriting and philanthropy, Sara Hickman is internationally known for her Grammy nominated and award winning pop/folk music. Through her music, Sara has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for a multitude of non-profits including Habitat for Humanity, SAFE, SPCA, the Ugandan Fistula Fund, Race for the Cure and many others. Sara has also donated over $22,000 in proceeds from her Texas Musicians Coloring Book (Volume 1), and recently produced an updated rendition of the Rolling Stones “Salt of the Earth” with 32 musicians—
including Kathy Valentine (GoGos), Ruthie Foster, Carolyn Wonderland, Gina Chavez and more--- on behalf of all the hard working people who have put themselves on the line during the COVID pandemic.
Sara Hickman's “TEXAS MUSICIANS COLORING BOOK, VOLUME 1” took Sara two years to research and hand draw. With 35 diverse artists—from Willie to Selena—there are lots of fun facts on each musician alongside their portrait for anyone of any age to color in. So, put away your phone, gather friends and family with your fave colored pencils to learn some cool facts, share some laughs and get zen!
